Kuo Chueh-Kai is a Chiayi native and grew up attending his aunt’s private dance school. He is a graduate of Tsoying Senior High School’s Dance Division. He joined Hung Dance in 2018, and toured with the company in Italy, Portugal, Spain, and New York. In New York, he performed in the duet version of “See You” at the Dance Gallery Festival, which won the Audience Choice Award. KUO has also performed in the company’s annual productions “Boundless,” “Out of Elegant,” and “See You.”
After enrolling in National Taiwan University of Arts’ College of Performing Arts Department of Dance, his work “Changing Oneself” won the top prize at the 2019 Tai-Yi Dance Festival. In 2019, KUO participated in Thunar Circus’ contemporary circus work “Melancholic Mambo. Two of the works he participated in—“Melancholic Mambo” and “See You”—were winners at the 18th and 19th editions of the Taishin Art Award, respectively.
